First Quarterly Report of fiscal year 2025 released

The Office of Inspector General published its first quarterly report for fiscal year 2025, with performance metrics, case summaries and agency highlights. The report shows OIG teams recovered more than $82.9 million. Additionally, the OIG saved Texas taxpayers more than $55.2 million through cost-avoidance measures.

In addition to annual totals, the report details recently settled cases, quarterly program statistics, and summarizes department initiatives and agency highlights. This allows readers to see specific examples of how the agency detects, prevents and deters fraud, waste and abuse in Texas Health and Human Services programs.

The report demonstrates the many ways in which the OIG safeguards tax dollars and upholds standards for Texas Health and Human Services programs, and There are a number of examples of our team’s outstanding performance over the last quarter. These include a $1.3 million settlement with a Dallas-Fort Worth hospital system that improperly billed Medicaid and two audits that revealed spread pricing by a pharmacy benefit manager.
