OIG releases results for fiscal year 2023

The Office of Inspector General published its fourth quarterly report for fiscal year 2023. With performance metrics, case summaries and agency highlights. The report shows OIG team members recovered more than $532 million and identified more than $1.1 billion in potential future recoveries. Additionally, the OIG saved Texas taxpayers more than $172 million through cost-avoidance measures.

In addition to quarterly details of recently settled cases and program statistics, the final quarterly report provides a summary of department initiatives and agency highlights from the previous fiscal year. The report allows readers to see specific examples of how the agency detects, prevents and deters fraud, waste and abuse in Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) programs.

The quarterly report is a key component in educating stakeholders, providers and clients on the agency's effort to protect Texas HHS program integrity. The publicly available report also increases transparency, allowing Texans to learn the scope and intent of investigations along with a breakdown of public funding the agency returns to taxpayers.

Current and previous quarterly reports are available here. The OIG will publish the next quarterly report in December.
