OIG reports $423 million in recoveries for fiscal year 2021

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) published its fourth quarterly report for fiscal year 2021. The report summarizes the excellent work performed by the OIG during the past four quarters. In fiscal year 2021, the OIG recovered more than $424 million. In addition, nearly $754 million was identified for potential future recoveries, and another $155 million was achieved in cost avoidance.

The OIG Quarterly Report details the office’s efforts this past year in detecting, preventing, and deterring fraud, waste, and abuse in the expenditure of funds in Texas health and human services programs. The quarterly report includes OIG’s performance metrics, identified trends seen in OIG investigations, an overview of audit and inspections reports produced, as well as other work done by the OIG.
