OIG reports $490 million in recoveries for fiscal year 2022

The Office of Inspector General published its fourth quarterly report for fiscal year 2022, summarizing the excellent work performed by this office during the past four quarters. In fiscal year 2022, the OIG recovered more than $490 million. In addition, nearly $877 million was identified for potential future recoveries, and another $166 million was achieved in cost avoidance. 

The report also highlights recent cases and agency accomplishments from the final quarter of the fiscal year and takes a deeper look at how the OIG recovered $130 million, identified $234 million in future recoveries and saved $44 million in cost avoidance between June 1, 2022 and August 31, 2022.

The OIG Quarterly Report details the office’s efforts this past year in detecting, preventing and deterring fraud, waste and abuse in the expenditure of funds in Texas health and human services programs. The quarterly report includes the OIG’s performance metrics, trends discovered in OIG investigations, an overview of audit and inspections reports produced, as well as other work done by the OIG.
