OIG audits developmental and disability authority

The OIG Audit and Inspections Division conducted an audit of the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG). AACOG operates as a local intellectual and developmental disability authority (LIDDA), providing and coordinating services and supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and monitoring and evaluating service delivery.

This audit determined whether contract controls ensured AACOG coordinated services to enrollees, monitored service delivery, reported general revenue expenses according to contract requirements, and documented paid encounters. As a result of the audit findings, the OIG recommended AACOG should ensure:

• Service coordinators include sufficient information in progress notes to support paid encounters.

• Personal-directed Plans are renewed timely.

AACOG concurred with the recommendations and has provided training and adopted a quality assurance review process to address the findings.
