OIG recovers nearly $145 million in third quarter

The Office of Inspector General recovered nearly $145 million in the third quarter of fiscal year 2019.

The OIG also identified almost $43 million for future recoveries, as well as $43 million in cost avoidance. The cost avoidance amount includes funds that were not spent or used more efficiently. These results are included in the OIG’s Quarterly Report for the third quarter. The report details the office’s efforts in detecting, preventing and deterring fraud, waste and abuse in the expenditure of funds in Texas health and human services programs.

The Quarterly Report includes OIG’s performance metrics, identified trends seen in OIG investigations, an overview of audit and inspections reports produced, as well as other work done by the OIG.
