OIG reports $103 million in first quarter recoveries

The Office of Inspector General published its first quarterly report for fiscal year 2023, with performance metrics, case summaries and agency highlights. The report (LINK) shows OIG team members recovered more than $103 million and identified more than $188 million in potential future recoveries. Additionally, the OIG saved Texas taxpayers more than $44 million through cost-avoidance measures.

The OIG Quarterly Report also provides details about recently settled cases, allowing Texans to see how the agency works to detect, prevent and deter fraud, waste and abuse in Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) programs. It also details how the OIG proactively educates providers, vendors and clients on the proper use and documentation of HHS-supported services.

Each quarter also includes the OIG In-Focus, an article that takes a closer look at the work of the OIG team. This issue features the efforts of auditors and the Nursing Facility Utilization Review team, which works to uphold standards of patient care and prevent fraud in long-term care facilities.

Current and previous quarterly reports are available here. The OIG will publish the next quarterly report in March 2023.
