Settlements reached following self-reports

OIG investigators initiated three cases against providers in San Antonio and Jasper who were identified as part of the Exclusion Review Project. The project identifies Texas Medicaid providers who employ individuals or entities who have been excluded from participating in the Texas Medicaid program. The providers were given the opportunity to self-identify the errors and submitted reports to include the time the excluded individuals were employed. The total amount settled in the third quarter to resolve these violations was $163,532.

Providers and MCOs may use the OIG Fraud Hotline or website at any time to report any compliance or overpayment matters relating to themselves. The OIG considers self-reporting as a potential mitigating factor that may warrant less severe or restrictive administrative action or sanction.
